In The Making
We have received a large number of letters with regard to the availability of lyrics to
the new album. At present the lyrics - or an approximation of them - are available only
from unofficial Internet postings. An official "Time Out Of Mind" song-book is however
in progress and will be available from 'My Back Pages' upon publication.
'ROLLING DOWN THE ROAD - BOB DYLAN'S 1996 CONCERTS' by Mike Wyvill & John Wraith. This
A5 booklet is the latest publication in a series of work that covers all Bob Dylan's
performing activities during a chosen year, and as the subtitle suggests this booklet
looks back at 1996. As with previous publications 'ROLLING DOWN THE ROAD...' includes a
commentary on the year in question, tour schedules, track-listings, tour charts and many
previously unseen colour photographs. This booklet may be available by the time we go to
print, If so you should find further information in the 'My Back Pages' pages at the
back of this magazine.
The Bob Dylan tribute book 'If You See Him Say Hello' is progressing nicely and the US
compiler of the book Tracy Johnson has received a large number of interesting stories
since the project was mentioned in the last ISIS. Almost ALL of these letters and
stories however, came from our American cousins. I know that we English are renowned for
our reserve, but with only 10% or so of our readership living in North America,... well,
come on the rest of you! For full details of how to contribute to this book see the
advertisement elsewhere in this ISIS or on Bread Crumb Sins.
As was expected "Lyrics 1962-1996" has been delayed. As of the first week of September
Dylan's office were still in the process of compiling the relevant lyrics for inclusion
in the up-date, so a December publication date will be impossible to meet. The project
is once again being undertaken by Dylan's regular publisher "Random House" and the book
will be published in hardback by "Villard Books" in the USA and by "Jonathan Cape" in
the UK. As mentioned in a previous ISIS, the book which is now expected early next year
is unlikely to feature lyrics from "Time Out Of Mind", although the current delay would
make this a possibility.
